WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College goaltender Brianne Wheeler and University of Massachusetts at Boston goalie Leah Hallett combined for 79 saves as the two women’s hockey teams battled to a 1-1 overtime tie in non-conference play Sunday at Alfond Rink.
Wheeler continued her fine goaltending this season for Colby (1-2-1 overall) with 31 stops, while Hallett kept her team in the game with 48 saves.
First-year player Maddy Borek had her first collegiate goal at 7:52 of the first period for Colby off passes from Karlyn Donovan and Torie Palffy.
Alyssa Sullivan’s unassisted goal for UMB (3-4-2) with just 1:05 left in the first period tied the game for good.
